This month of June 2021 will be auspicious in more ways than one. First of all, cafes and restaurants can open again, and the curfew has been moved back to later in the evening. And, to add to the joy, a Parisian legend will welcome you again after 16 years of closure. The Hotel Albe Saint-Michel team invites you to discover the new Samaritaine.
La Samaritaine: a symbol of Paris
Along with Printemps, BHV and Bon Marché, La Samaritaine is one of the world-famous Parisian department stores. Founded in 1870, for many years it embodied the luxury and modernity of the City of Light. Installed in magnificent Art Nouveau and Art Deco buildings in the heart of Paris, between the Rue de Rivoli and the Pont-Neuf, it had to close in 2005 to undergo a complete restructuring. Today, La Samaritaine can finally reopen its doors, perpetuating the classic model of the Parisian Department Store while also offering completely new experiences.
Renovation and revolution
When you step inside the new Samaritaine on June 23rd, there’s no doubt that you will discover everything that has helped to establish its splendid reputation and earned it a place on the list of Monuments Historiques. Its mosaics, wrought iron and, above all, its sublime glass roof through which the entire store is bathed in soft natural light have been restored and enhanced. But this new project also includes a spa, one of the largest beauty spaces in Paris, catering areas with a starred restaurant, a pâtisserie and several tea rooms and restaurants.
All you have to do is cross the Seine from the Hotel Albe Saint-Michel to discover the beauty and life of La Samaritaine. With its new concept combining the tradition of Parisian department stores and the essential touch of modernity required by today’s discerning customer, La Samaritaine will undoubtedly be THE place not to miss this summer!
